The title track of Phoenix is a very subdued, but nevertheless totally catchy tune with only one lyric being sung over and over—a choice that in less soulful hands would end up sounding like mindless repetition, but in Bianco's is a quietly archetypal influence that becomes the leitmotif of this remarkable album. Both the "Unseen Facts" and "Nothing Left" tracks are masterful in their use of AutoTuner effects to create a futuristic but deeply emotive sound, and it's basically not possible to overstate how perfect and beautiful the latter is; the lyrics are distraught, but the sound is regal and cosmic. "Tori No Sorane Wa" too is original and perfect in a completely different way: quiet and warm, with cupped-hand handclaps and acoustic accompaniment.
