Diffie Bosman : n Ander Tipe Niks.
Intriguing ambient music telling tales from south africa.
'n Ander Tipe Niks (i.e., A Different Type of Nothing) was the first album I decided to name in my native language, Afrikaans. The primary reason for this was the subject matter itself, as the album attempts to capture the vastness and richness of some of South Africa's desert landscapes. During a tour of the Northern Cape region in 2019, I was struck by the contradicting nature of how a desolate and inhospitable landscape can provide a dense wealth of experience and, years later, the vividness of these different landscapes is still fresh in my memory. While the idea for an ambient album was born a year before, which was also a stark departure from the style I had become used to working in, the tour of the desert became the driving force behind the goal of this album and several recordings from this made their way into the songs in various forms. Diep Verlatenheid means "Deep Desolation", Koue Dooie Plek means "Cold Dead Place", and Gaan 'n Lang Lang Lang Winter Wees means "Going to be a Long Long Long Winter". The other two tracks, Kathu and Keimoes, refer to the names of towns.
Songs:
1. Diep Verlatenheid
2. Kathu
3. Koue Dooie Plek
4. Gaan 'n Lang Lang Lang Winter Wees
5. Keimoes
