Christopher Ferreira : The Meditone Project, Volume 1.
Neoclassical piano that tells a nostalgic story....
The Meditone project is an ongoing multi-artist collaboration between musicians, video artists and producers. Its purpose is to create an environment for spontaneous expression between the artists in order to generate material that is original and unexpected. The Meditone project allows the participants to temporarily depart from the genres in which they are most comfortable and try out new forms for their expression.
Vol. 1 features Composer Christopher Ferreira, Sound Engineer/Video Artist Gabe Shepard and Producer/Sound Engineer Brian Sheil. The music explores the theme of darkness and lightness within urban life using the piano as its central voice. The subtle textures and loops used in the pieces were all created using bits and slices of Ferreira's piano recordings. The song 1622, with it's distinct pentatonic feel, was inspired by the bravery of the Japanese people following the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.
