Element by Chiwawa Chiwawa : Element.
He who sings thinks no evil.

Element is the sixth full-length album by Montreal based duo Chiwawa (Laurie Gordon and Krassy Halatchev). It is comprised of 12 intricately woven and thematically connected songs.

The opening track What Day Is Today sets the mood for a hypnotic listening experience. What follows is a consistently intriguing adventure taking with unpredictable turns and direction, combined with mature musical aesthetics.

Element carries a positive outlook and reminiscence, full of emotional depth, resonating long after the record has ended. The compositions flow in a light-hearted sort of fashion but the layers beneath evoke serious and compelling thoughts, emotions and contrasts.

Chiwawa has written a very personal album. But even more so this time, for it taps into sensitive and delicate topics. My Heart (track 5), Another Moment (track 6) and Carry It On (track 7) are aimed directly at deep and personal experiences (Laurie's loss of her father, when she was only a year-old and Krassy's farewell with his mother, as he left the Iron Curtain in 1990).

It Better Be True (track 8) is the hooky first single which has that je-ne-sais-quoi quality, making you want to push the Repeat button, repeatedly.

Moonlight Dancer (track 2) carries a Gorillaz-esque care-free feel and a happy-go-lucky attitude. Yet, lyrically it demonstrates that special bond Laurie and Krassy share. Both songs celebrate the duo's 20-year relationship and musical partnership.

Element is charged, rich, and captivating. It is a mature, brilliantly composed and meticulously crafted collection of songs that is certain to leave a long lasting impression.

It is no surprise that critics hurried to proclaim it as "Chiwawa's best to date!"
