Buzzing winds: I met Werner Durand this summer, while I was trying to learn German in Berlin. He's a long-time experimental musician of great renown, and builds his own wind, breath and buzzing instruments out of all sorts of materials. When I saw him play at an experimental music festival in Berlin, there was quite a bit of steel plumbing involved. His music is quite compelling and at the same time otherworldy. Do also check out his collaborations with his Indian-classical singing wife Amelia Cuni.
