Classical Ukulele Volume 2 by Daniel Estrem Daniel Estrem : Classical Ukulele Volume 2.
Colorful classical guitar.

The Bach Suites for Unaccompanied Cello are some of the best known works for cello and have been arranged for many instruments. The musical language is consistently that of Johann Sebastian Bach and is not so much cello music as it is Bach written on the cello. These transcriptions of Suites 1 and 3 demonstrate that the essence of the music is preserved while being conveyed by a mainly treble instrument such as the ukulele.

The sonatas by Jean–Baptiste Loeillet de Gant and Georg Philip Telemann as well as the piece by Robert Carr were originally written for alto recorder. The range of the alto recorder is almost identical to that of the tenor ukulele (using a low G tuning) which allows the music to sound quite natural on ukulele.

The two musettes of François Couperin are of a rustic nature making use of low drones throughout. The pieces were written in imitation of the hurdy gurdy, a popular instrument during the Renaissance. The hurdy gurdy with its multiple drone strings gives a constant pitch accompaniment to the melody, providing a sound similar to that of bagpipes.
