Ludovica by Francois Couture Francois Couture : Ludovica.
Canadian composer, musician, orchestrator, arranger and sound designer.

In 1618, Champlain proposed to replace the name Quebec by Ludovica or Louisville. By this gesture, he wanted to honour Louis XIII, who was then king of France.

To underline in his own way the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, François Couture offers a photo and audio album in twelve scenes. Electronic, acoustic, vocal and traditional sounds are intertwined to redefine an environment both modern and based in its roots.

With Ludovica, as with the preceding album Qallunak, François continues to explore different forms of interbreeding between electronic and traditional music.

With the collaboration of:
Andre Bouchard - accordion
Éric Dostie - voice
Jean-François Gagné - violin and viola
François Guilbault - double bass
Hélène Guilmette - soprano
Louis Larouche - trumpet
Jacques Lavallée - violin and viola
Sylvain Neault - violin and viola
Dominic Painchaud - cello
Patrice Painchaud - hand saw and violin
Annabelle Parent - voice
Catherine Simard - violin
La maîtrise des petits chanteurs de Quebec chorus.
