Lilly Wolf : Play Loud.
Catchy dance pop with insightful lyrics.
"Play Loud is a pretty straight-forward album title, but the motivation and
song contents go deeper than just partying. This was my first dance album. Prior
to this I'd put out an LP of indie pop songs, some of them very pretty and
sparse, but the response was always muted at live shows. I got tired of people
just sitting and watching me and not really participating. So for a change, I
wrote several songs that could be played at a party, you know, 4-on-the-floor
dance music, but I kept writing lyrics about things that are important to me.
'Everybody On Your Block' epitomizes the album's style, with lyrics about depression and failure over an irresistibly catchy synth-driven beat."
