Toni Castells : Creation.
Puccini meets sigur rós.
Creation contains Momo's new operatic works, recorded in collaboration with
American soprano Rebecca Nelsen and British countertenors Richard Scott and
Oliver Gerrish at the Royal College of Music and Cavendish Studios in London.
The album was originally going to be named ACGT, denoting the "A", "C", "G" and
"T" nucleic acids that make up a creature's genetic code or DNA. This album is
the result of my quest for understanding human nature, the origin of the
species, basically the human species.
Science tells us that for humans, sex is the origin of mortality, because rather
than reproducing clonally as bacteria do, we only transmit half our genes to our
offspring, and they will never naturally exist in the same combination again.
Different combinations of ACGT's make us unique, completely unique.
"Creation" therefore revolves about the miracle of human life, wondering the
roles of creation and evolution in explaining the hows and whys of this miracle.
