Shall We Dance by Beth Quist Beth Quist : Shall We Dance.
Electro-balkan / indian meets new age..

A seamless blend of ancient and ultra-modern influences, Shall We Dance is a collection of scores for modern dance choreographers by the talented composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Beth Quist. Naturally, this album more strongly features Quist's compositions, which range from ambient and free-form ("Air Chair") to driving and intense ("Fives"). However, her legendary four octave vocals are featured prominently on Shall We Dance as well, albeit in a more abstract, atmospheric way this time around. "Ritual" is an especically good example of this; it expertly plays on the divine tension between instrumentation and vocals, striking the perfect balance between a timeless sound, and a more modern, ambient one.
