Shadows from the Underground : Musings ballads and paradoxes.
Edgy, gritty rock for music tastemakers.
Put Beck, Tom Waits, Pink Floyd, and The Pixies on an operating table, inject a bolt of lightning, stitch up the scars, and the creature you get is Shadows From The Underground.
"Musings, Ballads, and Paradoxes" is a collection of songs from three albums:
"Love Songs For The Tortured Souls" (2007), "The Crooked Mile" (2008), and
"Metamorphosis" (2009).
"Love Songs For The Tortured Souls" is a journal of heartbreak,
self-destruction, and forbidden love. It sums up my angst-ridden mid-20's in Los
Angeles. Writing and recording those songs helped me survive the darkness I was
experiencing at the time.
A lot changed for me after finishing "Love Songs." Within the course of a year,
I was married and living in Colorado. I realized what my life could be like if I
came to terms with the demons in my soul. "The Crooked Mile" is an exorcism of
these demons. The songs document my turbulent journey on the road to inner
peace.
I started working on "Metamorphosis" immediately after I found out that I was
going to become a father. The album is a narrative of my transition into pending
fatherhood, with songs about commitment, sacrifice, and life-changes.
