WIth its lovely circular structures and space-y synths, The Art of Analog Diversion is a pared down ambient album that works just as well in the background as it does in the fore. Faithful analog and digital synths are featured alongside vintage drum machines, and together these sounds form patterns that morph and take on different sonic shapes as each track progresses. On this album, Bobby DeVito has found the exact line between ambient/"wallpaper" music and more melodic/narrative forms, and he explores that space very thoughtfully, with great results.
