Atmospheric and timeless,Kyotaku Live showcases the richly serene sound of the kyotaku—an ancient Japanese zen-flute with pentatonic tuning. The kyotaku was played frequently in the old days of Japan, but was largely replaced by other instruments during the twentieth century. Reviving a nearly lost musical tradition, this recording by Tilopa features some of the most important traditional pieces for this instrument.
