Eight Gates:
Charming folk pop/rock with a hint of electronica opening the gates to the land of the fairies.
|
Eight Gates was founded by Shaposhnikov Nikita and Sudakov Timofey in a small
Russian industrial city on the Volga River. As a response to the boredom of their
city that wasn't exactly abound with creativity, and driven by a thirst for magical
stories and a vague sense of the intangible greatness of the world, the two began
composing music together when they were high schoolers. Back then, they tried to
express themselves through electronic dance music, such as trance. By the time
they started the long journey of creating their own first album, the two had
already released several singles in collaboration with Russian and American
singers-songwriters and as well as many remixes.
Their own album then led them
into a completely different direction; as Nikita and Timofey were working on their
own project, a much wider narrative began to take shape that required different
musical languages. The most prominent one thereof is the language of imagination
and mystery. Thus, Russian singers-songwriters from various musical genres such
as indietronica, Russian folk music, indie rock and jazz were invited to help make
them bring the album to life. In the process, Timofey left the project, meaning that
"Eight Gates" currently consists of only one person: Shaposhnikov Nikita.
The First Gate is open now, and the journey is just beginning!
