theDGTL: Where hip hop beats meet elements of electronica, soul, jazz, and more.

theDGTL is a hip hop production collective based out of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest specializing in collaboration and genre breaking sounds. Formed by Vito Maserati and Jacob Hillard, who met online via soundcloud in 2011; the premise of theDGTL is collaboration, as the two worked together for three years before meeting in person. Inspired by the moment, theDGTL's collaborative-forward approach fuels projects that blend Hip Hop with elements of Electronic, Soul, Jazz and a certain aesthetic that is familiar, yet fresh. Working with artists that are at the zeitgeist of their genre, such as rising rapper Nobi (Fulminate, 2020) who embody the standard of creativity, innovation, and cause with intent into their craft.

Largely crafting their sound in house, theDGTL utilizes Vito Maserati's drum centric production and 808 influenced sounds to craft the inflection and textures that act as a foundation for a vast array of colours; but firmly rooted in hip hop technique. Sampling, dust, textural transformations warp compositions made in the moment to create an authentic sound that is heavily influenced by the roots of hip hop (J Dilla, Mike Dean, Dre) soul (D'angelo), jazz (Miles Davis, Getz, Trane) to more current sounds that have adapted aspects of the hip hop and rap genres to Electronic and Pop. A growing presence over the last several years, theDGTL began appearing as a Saxophone feature for The Soultanz, where they would meet current artist and main collaborator Nobi. After establishing a physical studio in Seattle, theDGTL has been collaborating with over a dozen local acts and west coast artists, focusing on songwriting, production, and innovative ideas and content creation at their current hq at House of Breaking Glass (Phillip Peterson) in North Seattle.
