Magnatune's colorful ideas

Four quite different releases this week:

- the Tiny Little Blackouts write dreamy indie rock with a mournful touch which never gets sad or dark. Elliott Smith meets the Cocteau Twins. http://magnatune.com/artists/albums/tiny-alice/

- Fresh Body Shop play very melodic and catchy alt-rock. I thought the first song was great, until I heard the 4th song, which really got me humming while I wrote this newsletter. http://magnatune.com/artists/albums/freshbody-uglyarmy/

- Daniel Estrem's focuses on the classical guitar pieces of Spain (with a particular focus on Albeniz). The Flamenco influences surge vividly in each piece, and Estrem gives this influence free rein with his fluid and loose playing. http://magnatune.com/artists/albums/estrem-spain/

- Instrumental heavy guitar wizardry from Michael Trapp. Always melodic, and often showy: when you can play blistering guitar runs like he can, you work it! This is melodic instrumental hard rock for those who appreciate musicianship. http://magnatune.com/artists/albums/alienet-furious/

Description:dark, urban, psychedelic, electronic
Genre:Electronica
Artist:Cayce Andrew & Notifi
Album:Constructing Temples

Cayce Andrew & Notifi's debut music collection. Composed and recorded in Las Vegas, NV during the winter of 2008. The tracks had undergone nearly a year's worth of uncountable revisions in order to achieve a satisfactory sound. The pieces give a clear demonstration of Notifi's unique, melodic, and abstract approach to instrumental hip-hop as well as Cayce's ability to express himself with a fine balance of vocal harmony and poetry.
