Magnatune relaunches as membership site

We recently discovered that Magnatune's business is now 75% from download-memberships, so we decided to take the plunge and become a membership-focussed site. Some things we changed:

- Google checkout is now available for all payments (in addition to paypal). This means you can use your credit card and *not* be a paypal member to get a Magnatune membership.
- lowered the cost of the monthly download membership to $15/month.
- we're still offering one-at-a-time album downloads, but at the slightly higher price of $12/album.
- We no longer sell CDs or stream memberships (existing members are fine)

As to our new releases this week:

Kaare Norge is practically a household name in his native Denmark. On this album, Norge performs his own Tango compositions for guitar with an energy that would make an Argentine proud. http://magnatune.com/artists/albums/kaarenorge-fantasia

Petr Venkrbec: The electro jazz album by Czech saxophone and clarinet player Petr Venkrbec brings a collection of short, distinctive pieces which combine brilliant woodwind playing with original electronic arrangements. Don't be surprised when a piece occasionally ends in 50 seconds: this is jazz at the cutting edge. http://magnatune.com/artists/albums/petrvenkrbec-alone

Cayce Andrew & Notifi: dark, urban, psychedelic, electronic rock. The background are funky and reminiscent of hiphip, while the vocals are more drony, alt-rock and poetic. http://magnatune.com/artists/albums/caycenotifi-temples

Rocket City Riot instrumental: my favorite music-to-work by of the month. This is RCR's raw debut hard rock album, only without the singing. http://magnatune.com/artists/albums/rocketcity-wntgmi

For just $15/month you can be a Magnatune member and can download any of our 10,000 songs at no cost. http://magnatune.com/downloads

Description:achingly beautiful.. almost edible!
Genre:New Age
Artist:Mexeena
Album:Ether

Imagine Ether as that sweetish scent found deep in your memory. A collection of sounds that have been carefully hidden, but proving strangely compelling. Embark on a musical exploration with Mexeena's soft vocal guiding you down a faintly familiar path. Encounter sparse acoustic guitars freeing themselves from the darker, textured recesses. Follow your senses as you continue through stimulating, yet calming, tracks. Go ahead, breathe in the turquoise air. Find found sounds and pulsing beats, cast out bad dreams while you absorb yet another melody. Unearth your earpiece and make a space in your ether.
