Description:A journey into the deep, beyond the bounds of ambient music
Genre:Ambient
Artist:Roe
Album:In Vitro II

In Vitro I and In Vitro II are compositions created from different moments from the past few years. They were gathered in order to search for a sound that can reach beyond the usual genres new age, ambient or electronic, with the pseudospiritual-relaxing stereotypes that this kind of music often brings.

With these albums I mean to adventure into the realms of deep psyche, touching the mental strings buried somewhere inside of all of us.

Description:Sweeping new age cello
Genre:New Age
Artist:Margaret Maria Tobolowska
Album:Enchanten

Enchanten features an all unique sound of gorgeous sweeping cello lines, with cool New Age effects and sounds; creating a compelling and adventurous sonic experience that transports the listener to a whole new world of imagination and sound.

For Margaret Maria (the composer, producer and cellist) this magical album represents the hope and inspiration of the creative spirit overcoming adversity; coming from a time in Margaret's life where she needed to break free; to find her own unique voice and to dare to give it wings!

Awakenen: The beginning, a moment of intense beauty and tenderness, the awakening of emotion.

Wishen Herte: Straight from the heart, a lyrical, lilting and hopeful love story.

Legende: Evoking a long lost time of legends, of dark mysticism, Celtic in flavour.

Tourdion-Vin Clairet: Based on the French drinking song 'Vin Clairet', this tourdion is lyrical and spinning in the flavour of a medieval dance building in intensity to the end.

Stellaris: Cosmic and built on driving energy, this is an intense, dark and powerful journey propelling through space and time.

Magik: The magic weaves a soft curtain of bubbling sound, as darkness awakens the muse for a breathless ride.

Stormen: A magical dark storm is brewing, full of electricity and foreboding.

Midniht Walzen: A dark waltz by moonlight.

Enchanten: The spell is cast, the transformation is happening, as the power builds in momentum and great emotion.

Chimaera: Rising from the noise... the evil awakes... preparing for battle...

The Chimaera - 'She was of divine race, not of men, in the fore part a lion, in the hinder a serpent, and in the middle a goat, breathing forth in terrible manner the force of blazing fire. And Bellerophon slew her, trusting the signs of the gods.'Homer, Iliad 6.181

At Peace: The lone voice that has been wandering, has found hope that leads to a hopeful place of incredible beauty and peace.

Glora: Based on Mozart's Twinkle, this is a celebration of sparkle, happy ever after, resolution, a warm smile at the end of a story.

Description:French lute duets that represent the pinnacle of the High Baroque
Genre:Classical
Artist:Edward Martin and Thomas Walker
Album:Courante

This recording represents a unique attempt in the modern discography of lute music to seek out the beauty of the contrepartie, or "counterpart", in the French lute tradition.

The great French lutenists were above all formidable soloists, but often the solo music they wrote was accompanied in manuscript sources by a complementary part (the "counterpart") written for a second lute that would add harmony and resonance, and sometimes even extend thematic material, of the solo piece. While the solo piece could always stand alone, the addition of a second lute gives a result that is something rather more than the sum of its parts: sumptuous texture, synergistic sound, and greater compositional robustness, all of which is rare to hear in the modern concert hall.

Martin and Walker felt that the repertoire needed some longer, more involved pieces in addition to the characteristic small dance form prevalent in the repertoire. Seeking to discover a larger scale chaconne for duo turned fruitless, so Gamut Music commissioned Minnesota composer Tyler Kaiser to compose two counterparties; one for the G major Chaconne, the other for the A major Chaconne (Sarabande). He did so in a convincing manner, enhancing each respective piece without changing the character, and keeping in the style of each work.

Finally, a short note about the instruments used for this recording. In order to maximize the balance that is necessary for this remarkably delicate repertoire, the artists are playing an identical matching set of eleven-course French lutes that were specifically made for the recording by the gifted luthier Daniel Larson. The lutes are strung entirely with pure gut strings that were made by Gamut Music, and the nuance, warmth and depth of sound is immediately apparent to the discerning audiophile.

Description:chillout music for late nights and early mornings
Genre:Electronica
Artist:Kalabi
Album:Music for Televisions Vol 2

The second volume of Music For Televisions, which continues the stripped back production style used on the first volume. Kalabi decided to go back to his early days of music making, when there were limited tracks and limited hardware. So, using only eight tracks for each song, and using only analog modelled keyboards, he has made an interesting addition to his growing catalog.

Description:Downbeat ambient electronica with a twist
Genre:Ambient
Artist:Julian Blackmore
Album:Essence Vol 1

Electronica meets ambient, and fuses with spirituality, in this exciting new project by New York based composer and producer Julian Blackmore.

Deeply hypnotic pads and pulsing textures ebb and flow to create a soothing soundscape, reminiscent of Tangerine Dream or Brian Eno's ambient work. Each 20 minute track is carefully structured to take the listener into a deeper state of relaxation before returning to the surface.

Take a moment...

Essence Vol.1 is a 40 minute sound journey in two parts, ideal for use during meditation or yoga, guided hypnosis, or simply for relaxation.

Description:A solid hybrid sound of Instrumental Rock
Genre:Hard Rock
Artist:Idlemine
Album:In Life

With epic riffs, dark undertones, and an enticing blend of spoken poetry the music in general is classic to the roots Idlemine always produces, but the vocals generate a whole new aspect to the norm.

This album is a straight shot to the thinker, the music is made to arouse thought and foster change.

Idlemine quotes: "Teaming up with a vocalist is always fun for us because we do write around being Instrumental, Rick Noble, (AKA) Rick Threat was phenomenal to work with. Most of the lyrics you hear in this album were recorded in one take, shot straight from the hip.

A few of the songs on this album were recorded together as a pre-pro but ended up so good we re-recorded them and put them on the album.

Although there are some EXPLICIT LYRICS in this album we feel you will still enjoy the point at hand when thought through after listening."

Description:Canadian composer, musician, orchestrator, arranger and sound designer
Genre:New Age
Artist:Francois Couture
Album:After the Rain

For piano and ambience.
An intimate and nostalgic music.
A tinge of Impressionism.

Description:viola da gamba in a contemporary context
Genre:New Age
Artist:Timothy Vajda
Album:Bootstrap Physics

The viola da gamba, primarily found in music of the Renaissance and Baroque, is here used in varying combinations with electric guitar, synthesizer, acoustic guitar, and medieval fiddle. The musical style organically blends old with new, classical with popular. The result is a richly textured, expressive music with a sound all its own.

"Bootstrap Physics" explores a musical compatibility between instruments and styles that aren't often combined.

"Vajda plays all the instruments and writes all the tunes on this instrumental album, and it is really compelling. His primary instrument is the viola da gamba, which looks like a cello, plays like a cello ? but it's a viola. Regardless of my ignorance on that topic, I can still appreciate the beauty of this music. Soothing, intriguing and different enough to make it stand out."
