Publicity, Press and PodcastingÐ Real Opportunities for Musicians
Magnatune is a next-generation full service record label offering sales,
promotional, distribution, and artistic support to its musicians. The
association with Magnatune is golden, since we include our musicians in
promotional efforts and publicity campaigns. That means contest winners'
music (and names) get out there- online, in the press, at trade shows, and
through our distribution networks & affiliates.
About the Music
Contest entrants will also have the opportunity to use Magnatune music in
creating their own remix compositions and submit their best works.
The contest features L.A. singer/songwriter Lisa DeBenedictis who has been
compared to artists Tori Amos and Aimee Mann. Her music is described as
sensual, ethereal, indie pop music. Remix compositions are required to
use some part of either or both vocals from the acapella tracks "Below"
and/or "Cuckoo" from her "Tigers" album.
Magnatune studio tracks from artists Burnsee Thornside, c layne, Brad
Sucks and Drop Trio are also available. Additionally, a set of 400 sample
loops culled from the Magnatune library in every imaginable
instrumentation and genre are offered for use. Multiple entries are
welcomed and encouraged, although no entrant may win more than two tracks
on the Lisa DeBenedictis Remix album.
Yes, it's Legal!
Magnatune is not about violating copyright: we only deal with music where
we can obtain a free and clear license to the copyright, so that we can
legally distribute our music over the Internet. Our artists sign a

About Magnatune
Founded in 2003, Magnatune (www.magnatune.com) is an independent, online
record label that hand selects its own artists, sells its catalog of music
through online downloads and print-on-demand CDs and licenses music for
commercial and non-commercial use. Based on the principle that "we are
not evil," the company offers fair-trade music to consumers by equally
sharing all revenue from the sale of albums with artists and allowing
artists to retain full rights to their music. All music can be previewed
free of charge with a "try before you buy" philosophy. Customers can also
choose how much they want to pay for the music with pricing ranging from
$5-18 for a downloadable album or print-on-demand CD. Magnatune is a music
business where everybody wins.
