Submit your music to Magnatune

If you're a musician and would like to be on Magnatune, we'd love to hear from you!

We don't accept everything. In fact, getting on Magnatune is intentionally difficult: we accept only about 5% of what gets sent to us. Your album has to blow our mind.

We sell lots of music licenses and downloads. We're a real business, so we're really picky about the music we choose.

You can submit via the Internet or you can mail us a CD.

Look at our contract terms before you submit. You should be willing to sign the the agreement if we accept you.

You need to own the rights to your own music. That means no "cover songs".

Submissions are accepted only from musicians or their management. We don't do business with labels: we're all about paying musicians directly.

Read this if you want to recommend an artist.

Submitting music over the Internet

  • You need to have an album's worth of music (40+ minutes)

  • Send us your best song.

  • If we like your song, we'll ask for your album.

  • If you don't hear back, that means we didn't accept you (sorry!)

Ready? Ok, now click this graphic and follow the instructions:

Submitting a CD by Postal Mail

  • Our address:
      Magnatune Submissions
      2342 Shattuck Ave, Suite 524
      Berkeley, CA 94704
      USA
  • Remove the shrinkwrap from your CD

  • Your album needs be at least 40 minutes long.

  • Write your email address and phone number on a piece of paper and include it with the CD.

  • Don't write on or otherwise mutilate your CD artwork (oh, the horror!).

  • We're not into marketing fluff, and we listen to the CDs "blind". Lots of our best releases came in on hand-written CDRs. If you're including printed material, save a tree and limit yourself to a one-sheet.

  • If we like your CD, we will contact you. If you don't hear from us, that means we didn't accept your CD (sorry!).
