Paul Berget : JS Bach on the Lute.
Renaissance lute, modernized..
Relaxed yet refined, Paul Berget's latest release is an informed selection of Johann Sebastian Bach pieces, two of which were originally composed for the cello but which sound excellent on the lute. We love the warm timbre, subtle phrasing, and great clarity of line on this album. Particularly lovely is Paul's interpretation of BWV 996, the only piece here that Bach originally composed for lute, which Paul plays on a ten course renaissance lute in g minor. His interpretations also bring fresh tenderness to such recognizable pieces as the Prelude of BWV 1007.
