A mare and foal settling down for the night. Close, silent, nuzzling each other to make sure each ones place of sleep is shared and safe. Moonlight drifting over barns and silos. Touching each hillock with it's translucent light. A lake in moonlight. Fading diamonds sparkling their last light before the darkness sips them up and away. Warm honey dripping from a sleeping child's fingertips. A blissful smile at the edge of her mouth, puffs of air barely moving the whisps of hair lying across her cheek.

A darkened sky at the very edge of daybreak. Still. Vacant. The faint promise of light at the edge of the land. Trees barely seen. Grasses unmoving. Flowers yet to bloom. Softness and gentleness resting in the sighs of the earth yet asleep. Nothing astir, no roaming or movements yet of fawns lying under sheltering cover. The edge of night closing around a cottage small. Golden light flickering through curtains drawn, the beginnings of night's dance toward the dawn. Chimney smoke escaping into the frigid air. White against the midnight sky. Disappearing upwards, curling, spirals, then gone. A father's peek into his son's darkened room.

The sound of the child's dreams once caught on a fright, then released in play. Silent quivers under lids tightly closed. The only sign of dreams forming and fading within a child's heart.
