Chad Lawson : Song of Prayer.
Multi-award winning pianist and composer who is not afraid to put his hat in anything.
"I can't put into words what your music expresses; it is far more than
beautiful," states one YouTube commenter about pianist Chad Lawson's latest
offering, Song of Prayer.
Visiting Seattle in July 2011, "the Lord really laid it on my heart to record
something that people could use during prayer," Chad recalls. Lawson invited a
close friend to record him, let the Lord place his hands wherever He wanted
to and 32 minutes later, it was done... No preparation, no outtakes, no
overdubs: improvisational prayer in its rawest, most honest form. (Lawson kept a
hymnal with him on the piano while recording "just in case" but he never had to
open it).
Lawson never planned on recording this, it found him: Chad plays
three morning services every Sunday at a large church in North Carolina. Each
service has some time set aside for quiet prayer, where Lawson plays solo. After
one quiet time, as soon as the pastor started speaking, Lawson was stunned:
"There was an authority in his prayer, a genuine crying" not with loud action,
but with sincere words." Lawson found out he had been reading directly from the
Puritan book of prayers and meditation, Valley of the Vision. The inspiration
for "Song of Prayer" was born.
