Post-Folkology by Conway Hambone Conway Hambone : Post-Folkology.
Multi-genre instrumental and vocal conquests made with love and fuzz.

A collection of recordings, made in the Shed between 2022-2023.

The inspiration for the album came about after a conversation with a mate in a Brewery on Hauntology.

Using instrumentation with ties to the past, and sonics reminiscent of those from my childhood.

So With an ever-growing collection of weird and wonderful electronics from the past I set to work.

The players:

  • Paul Worsley: 12 and 6 string Guitars, Harmonium, Percussion, Synth, Bass, Omnichord.
  • Sonny Worsley: Mandolin.
  • Elvin Worsley:Drums

The initial idea was to jam with acoustic instruments, using a Harmonium as the pad to work on top of, to get a theme going, and stick to a 3/4 time beat, to get some droning spooky waltz stuff going on.

Like all good ideas though, we went off on a tangent, and electronics started to get plugged in at an early stage

I also thought of just using the preset beats the type that you find on most cheap electronic keyboards from the 80's.

Instruments featured:Harmonium, melodica, omnichord, Korg ms10 synth, and a load of guitar stomp boxs.

Some of the tracks stayed true to the original theme though, with Modal Harmonium Drones and open-tuned acoustic guitars also a few Preset beats here and there.

All the tracks were mixed onto 1/4" tape to add to the mysterious aesthetics.

We had a great time recording it and just maybe you'll hear some sounds from your past within!
