Eric Kamen : Eric 2.
Urban flamenco.
Motivated by the global success of his first World Music album "Native Unit", Eric
released his second World Music album, Eric 2.0. 'As all artists know, in the wake
of a success, you can't (or shouldn't!) simply follow the same equation which
lead to the first success. Whether you are Mary J., Beyoncé or Shakira ... you
gotta keep moving forward! ... for the sake of your soul as well as your
audience.'
'I attempted to really understand what so many people around the world enjoyed
about my first album ... and built upon it in my second album Eric 2.0'. It wasn't
such a radical departure from the basic notion of merging contemporary beatz
with more traditional music from around the world, but feeling emboldened by the
success of my first album Native Unit, I took some 'leaps of faith' I doubt I would
taken on my first album. For starters - I used a photo of myself for the album
cover!
'I also took a lot more liberties in the degree of musical diversification ...
by including Asian and Indian tracks.'
'Eric 2.0 too was a successful financial and artistic undertaking, including my
highest selling and most often played track - Goin' Down. I am pretty proud of
the album!'
