Colors of Spain Volume 2 by Daniel Estrem Daniel Estrem : Colors of Spain Volume 2.
Colorful classical guitar.

Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados and Isaac Albeniz are among the most important proponents of the modern Spanish school of composition founded by Felipe Pedrell. Each of these composers used the folklore of his country in his own unique manner. Most of the attention on this recording centers on de Falla and Granados, while Estrem's first Colors of Spain album consists mainly of works by Albeniz.

De Falla's El Amor Brujo (Love, the Magician) was initially commissioned in 1914-15 as a gitaneria (gypsy piece) by a flamenco gypsy dancer and reflects the composer's skillful use of flamenco elements in shaping this highly original suite. It was later re-scored as a symphonic suite and eventually became a one-act ballet.

Enrique Granados was thoroughly imbued with romantic culture and continued composing in the manner of Chopin and Schumann. He was an exquisite colourist and gave his works a poetic view of a refined 18th century Spanish culture. His Valses Poeticos reveals the expressive nature of his compositions and his thorough mastery of the waltz form.
