Olexa Kabanov : Dale of Muses.
Strings slowly plucked from the soul.
Kabanov is influenced by a wide range of
musical interests, which include the European Middle Ages, Eastern
tradition, and Slavic ethnic, from jazz to folk-rock and world music. The album
Dale of the Muses became in effect an Ukrainian project in the field of
world music and apparently, one of the first in Ukraine.
Describing this music is not easy, it has to be listened to, its the first album of its kind from Ukraine and is beautiful and
amazing. It is gratifying to hear how organically the sounds meld together,
for example, the lyre, the deep Ukrainian violin and the Indian percussion. Or the mandolin
with the drymba. In this album you will find unexpected combinations and
each of them again and again will prove that music has no borders,
music is for everyone, regardless of nationality. Kabanov and his music look in this direction and in listening you will find many unexpected and hidden gems
that are worth finding.
