Return by Linda Wood Linda Wood : Return.
Melodic, eclectic 'quirk-pop'.

Over the course of its eleven songs, Wood embraces pop mixed with an assortment of different flavors, including singer/songwriter, rock, Latin, and jazz. All of it is tied together with Wood's strong, pop sensible voice and stellar musical performances from her backing musicians. The subtle and unusual addition is, of course, a ukulele. Rather than colouring the entire album it is blended beautifully into the instrumentation in a way that represents the ukulele-wielding songtress' style very well. The gentle upbeat feel of the album is definitely easy listening.

An honest album that is both nostalgic and fresh, Return is, for the most part, a reminiscence about the choices Wood has made that have in turn made her. These reminiscences are personal and universal, such as a first kiss, body image struggles, love hoped for, loneliness, and frustration in relationship.
