MAKO : Living on Air.
Soul searching irish/french indie rock.
The sound of this album mixes alt indie rock, blues to funk to reggae played by artists of
different styles from France and Ireland coming together to create Mako. The
subject matter voices addiction, love and loss, moving on and finding peace.
"Living on Air" was written and recorded after a turbulent few years for the
artists, total disillusionment with the record industry, to the final
destruction of their old band Cyclefly from major label politics. "Living on
Air" is going back to what is important, the creation process and ultimately the
music, without all the BS and ego that goes with the other.
"Every so often, a really great band just simply disappears...like, let's say
Cyclefly for example. Then if you're very lucky, as quickly as the left, they reappear, like a phoenix from the ashes, reformed (well, kind of) as a new incarnation - MAKO.
MAKO are good. Really good, and the new album is a showcase of everything that 'Makos' these guys great (like what I did
there?)...Brimmed with shimmering guitars and addictive hooks, the triumphant return of one of the best bands, albeit in a slightly different format, that the UK has seen for a long time".
