All Strings Considered by Jamie Janover Jamie Janover : All Strings Considered.
Innovative hammered dulcimer.

Symbiotic musical conversations between two hammered dulcimer masters, utilizing, among other things, Masley's invention called bowhammers, "All Strings Considered" reaches far into uncharted realms of the timbral universe."

Michael Masley (MAZE-lee) invented "bowhammers" - his own technique for playing the hammered dulcimer using small bows as a striking surface, enabling him to pluck, bow and strike (PBS) the strings simultaneously. He has recorded with artists as diverse as Ry Cooder, Butch Vig, Tom Waits and Zakir Hussain. He is included in "Bakers Biographical Dictionary of Musicians -8th edition".

Jamie Janover is a self-taught musician and photographer. He has been playing the drums since an early age, and has developed his own unique style of playing the hammered dulcimer based on his percussive techniques. He performs solo on hammered dulcimer at numerous festivals including The Telluride Bluegrass Festival and he has appeared on stage with a wide range of artists, from Stanley Jordan and Béla Fleck to The String Cheese Incident and Phish. This recording captures musical conversations between these two innovative hammered dulcimer players. The combination of their diverse and unique techniques reaches far into new realms of the timbral universe, from cascading symphonies of sound to spacious ethereal ambience.
