Conversations Galantes by Ensemble Mirable Ensemble Mirable : Conversations Galantes.
Rare and extraordinary music of the baroque.

This lightly elegant dance music of Conversations Galantes was invented for the court of Louis XIV, but Louis-Gabriel Guillemains' Italian training as a violinist also added a warm, passionate quality that absolutely thrilled mid-eighteenth century Parisians. Greer Ellison, flutist, Elizabeth Blumenstock, violinist, and Joanna Blendulf, violist da gamba delicately exchange parts back and forth on this recording, which is performed in a tastefully relaxed manner and has a really pleasing overall sound. They're supported by the continuo ensemble of JungHae Kim (harpsichord) and William Skeen (violoncello) whose supple tones compliment the overall mood. The members of Ensemble Mirable also perform with Philharmonia Baroque, American Bach Soloists, Musica Angelica, and the Portland Baroque Orchestra.
