Michael Travisano : The Dogs of Rome.
Modern alternative piano to feel in your gut.
Every morning in Rome, a parade of people walk their dogs on the paths lining
the ancient Aurelian wall that circles the city's center. Almost none of the
dogs are on leashes and almost every one of them doesn't need to be. They're big
and they're tiny. They hang out and jump and sniff. Some seem to be filled with
unabashed playful joy, others seem contemplative, and some seem to be on a
mission to find something new. The morning is filled with the sounds of their
human companions yelling at them to hurry along and catch-up... 'Stella! Vieni!
Andiamo! Vieni qui! Stella! STELLA!!! 'NDIAMO!!'
The music on The Dogs of Rome is about them, or more accurately, it is a
reflection of the stuff of life through our relationships with them: their
sharing of our joy, their worry with and for us, their unconditional love. All
of the music was written with a direct view of the Aurelian wall and is both a
dedication to Mike's time spent living in Italy as well as a reflection of the
American popular music that continued to be a soundtrack playing in the
background.
