Division by Ostraka Ostraka : Division.
Virtuosic music for viol, lutes and guitars.

Ostraka's debut recording Division traces the fantastic art of diminution and improvisation in the music of renaissance and baroque France, Italy, England, and Spain. Centered around gambist Josh Lee's "soulful and stylish playing", the trio selected the seldom-heard masterpieces to highlight the rich, musical depth found within the art of variation.

Featuring sultry and toe-tapping renditions of familiar works by Marin Marais and Diego Ortiz, the trio plumbs the pathos of the Italian renaissance with moving performances of Riccardo Rognioni and Belloferonte Castaldi, as well as jovial works from 17th century England by Christopher Simpson and Nicola Matteis.
