Robert Scott King : Life Amongst the Static.
Amplified introspection powered by a single voice.
On his latest recording "Life Amongst the Static," this native Californian
evokes a range of influences that surpass what's typically found under the
litany of genre labels. His lyrics are introspective and self-effacing, yet also
biting and sarcastic at times as illustrated in "Obligatory Love Song," which
treats the well-worn topic of love in a way that would make Graham Parker and
Paul Westerberg just a little bit proud. Never losing site of the power of an
inspirational lyric coupled with a guitar hook, this latest collection of 11
songs suggests what a band would sound like if you blended elements of Snow
Patrol, the Doves and Travis - and maybe seasoned it all with a little bit of
The Bravery and perhaps a dash of Elbow.
Produced by Irish expatriate Lynne Earls (who has worked with a range of artists
- including k.d. lang, Rooney, Emily Wells and Billy Idol), "Life Amongst the
Static" is a collection of intoxicating soundscapes with plenty of lyrical
soul-searching.
