C Layne: Lo-fi pop at its best.

C. Layne has been releasing music online since 2001, continually re-examining what inspires him and expanding his sound.

Potemkin Villages, his first release for Magnatune, compiles several tracks from his early years, and showcases a creative spirit unwilling to sit still. It combines the jangly pop, electronica, folk, psychedelia and ambient influences that he would continue to refine on future releases.

On The Sun Will Come Out To Blind You, his second release (exclusive to) Magnatune, C. Layne relinquished production duties to Victor Stone of fourstones.net. Many of the same musical ideas featured in Potemkin Villages are here refined and polished to a shimmering glow by Stone.

Shark Week begins with ferocity, and leans in with grit and texture throughout, adding additional influences from hip-hop and rock music. This album delves into themes of the unexplored and uncontrollable. The album is sequenced almost like one long track as C. Layne attempts to take the listener on a journey through the unknown.

Lastly, VI is the rite-of-passage breakup album. Pared back to acoustic guitar and lush vocal harmonies, VI is a personal account of loss and longing.
