Daria:
Music to inspire all the world's children.
|
World Music Children's Performer, Daria (Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou) has spent
over two decades performing around the globe, creating music to inspire all the
world's children. Her music mixes authentic traditions and instruments with a
spirit of joy and hopefulness that has won her fans from Siberia to South
America. In a recent article, the Christian Science Monitor declared: "When
Daria Marmaluk-Hajioannou makes music, the world listens -- literally!"
With 7 CD's and mini-cd releases that have won educational and entertainment
awards (NAPPA, Parent's Choice, Best of Children's Music Web, etc.) Daria's
music spans a range of folk traditions from Early American to Andean music,
Hispanic Heritage Music to Native American and almost everything in between!
Among the languages heard in her music are English, Spanish, Quechua, Ladino,
Yiddish, Zulu, German and Haudenasaunee (Iroquis).
Daria's songs have been used widely in the USA as well as around the world. Her
"Beautiful Rainbow World" song (from the CD of the same name) was chosen as the
text for a photography book of global children as well as in an anti-apartheid
program in South Africa. It was also featured in "Teaching Tolerance" programs
in the USA and in a curriculum called "Respecting Others" in Australia. Daria's
"I Have A Dream" Song is used across the USA to celebrate Martin Luther King Day. Her Earth Day
anthem "We've Got The Whole World In Our Hands" has been used in the USA as well
as in Singapore, Scotland, Malaysia, Japan and China. Her bilingual songs in
Spanish and English such as La Cucaracha (with over a million hits on Youtube)
are part of ESL and ELL programs for English learners.
Additionally, Daria was chosen as the first artist to contribute to the audio
version of the popular Highlights/Hi Five magazines. Twenty of her songs were
chosen as part of a English language music service in Korea and songs from her
Cancioncitas De Los Andes release are being used as the music bed for online
webisodes of a popular teen graphic novel series called "Five Nations" from
Tumble Creek Entertainment.
