Valter Carignano and Michela Varda: Italian songs on poems of gabriele d'annunzio.


Valter Carignano, bass baritone, has sung in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, South America and Korea. He sang live for the RAI (National Italian Television) and at the Eurovision Song Contest. He has won national and international Opera and Vocal Chamber Music competitions.

Valter's favorite operatic characters to perform are: Scarpia in Tosca, Marcello and Schaunard in La Bohème, Macbeth in Macbeth, Bartolo and Basilio in The Barber of Seville, Dulcamara in Elisir d'Amore, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni and Leporello in Don Giovanni.

He lives and works in Turin, Italy where he is a singing teacher, vocal coach and teacher in vocal masterclasses. He also works occasionally in Korea. He collaborates with Feltrinelli bookshops, conducting shows and meetings about the history of Opera.

Michela Varda, pianoforte, has won national and international competitions, and participated in television recordings for CHANNEL 5 and RAI 1.

In 2001 she took part in the performance of "Art of Fugue", a project conceived by Luciano Berio, in Spoleto, Lyon, The Hague and London. Michela is an European member of the Orchestra of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto.

She's also an associate teacher for courses of important voice teachers: Franca Mattiucci, Lorenza Canepa, Valter Carignano and Claudio Desderi.
