Ulf Ivarsson teams up with some of the most interesting players on the contemporary Swedish music scene: keyboardist Per Wiberg (Opeth, Spiritual Beggars), trumpet player Goran Kajfes ?Sting, Oddjob, Nacka Forum, Blacknuss Allstars), cellist Raymond King (Chris Bailey, Page, Plant), and guitarist George Nakas (Safri Duo, Embryo Sthlm). The fantastic \"Blue Lights\" opens the album; Kajfes shows us how a trumpet line that might have been mournful in another track can sound deeply urbane with some effervescent rhythms set behind it. \"Direction Dub\" is a great track too?mellow and atmospheric but with that undercurrent of buzz that runs throughout the album. \"Saturn Blues\" is another highlight. It gives us great bluesy swaths of Kajfes' horn playing swirled into Ivarsson's stirred up beats and vibraphone by Wiberg.", "release_date" : "2004-04-27", "genres" : ["Electronica","Rock","Electro Rock"], "collections" : [{ "name" : "Hard Electronic", "slug" : "hard_electronic", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/collections/hard_electronic" },{ "name" : "Remixed by Four Stones", "slug" : "remixed_by_four_stones", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/collections/remixed_by_four_stones" }], "vocals" : "instrumental", "moods" : ["groovy","funky","energetic","hypnotic"], "uses" : ["tech or product demo","vlog","podcast background","cafe or restaurant","lounge or bar","advertising"], "energy" : 4, "instrumentation" : ["trumpet","vibraphone","synths","drum machine","cello","electric guitar"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "A buzzy, instrumental blend of jazz, dub, and electro-funk with urbane trumpet lines, effervescent rhythms, and stirred-up beats—ideal for modern, stylish audio backdrops.", "duration_seconds" : 2984, "tracks" : [{ "track" : 1, "track_no" : 1, "name" : "Blue Lights", "duration_seconds" : 413, "duration" : "6:53", "vocals" : "instrumental", "bpm_approx" : 106, "preview_mp3" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/01-Blue%20Lights-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.mp3", "preview_opus" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/01-Blue%20Lights-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.opus", "free_download" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/1/file?format=mp3", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/1" },{ "track" : 2, "track_no" : 2, "name" : "Sacred", "duration_seconds" : 441, "duration" : "7:21", "vocals" : "instrumental", "bpm_approx" : 99, "preview_mp3" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/02-Sacred-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.mp3", "preview_opus" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/02-Sacred-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.opus", "free_download" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/2/file?format=mp3", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/2" },{ "track" : 3, "track_no" : 3, "name" : "This is BEATUNDERCONTROL", "duration_seconds" : 416, "duration" : "6:56", "vocals" : "instrumental", "bpm_approx" : 120, "preview_mp3" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/03-This%20is%20BEATUNDERCONTROL-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.mp3", "preview_opus" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/03-This%20is%20BEATUNDERCONTROL-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.opus", "free_download" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/3/file?format=mp3", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/3" },{ "track" : 4, "track_no" : 4, "name" : "Direction Dub", "duration_seconds" : 508, "duration" : "8:28", "vocals" : "instrumental", "bpm_approx" : 146, "preview_mp3" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/04-Direction%20Dub-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.mp3", "preview_opus" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/04-Direction%20Dub-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.opus", "free_download" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/4/file?format=mp3", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/4" },{ "track" : 5, "track_no" : 5, "name" : "Speechless", "duration_seconds" : 842, "duration" : "14:02", "vocals" : "instrumental", "bpm_approx" : 113, "preview_mp3" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/05-Speechless-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.mp3", "preview_opus" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/05-Speechless-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.opus", "free_download" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/5/file?format=mp3", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/5" },{ "track" : 6, "track_no" : 6, "name" : "Saturn Blues", "duration_seconds" : 364, "duration" : "6:04", "vocals" : "instrumental", "bpm_approx" : 84, "preview_mp3" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/06-Saturn%20Blues-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.mp3", "preview_opus" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Beat%20Under%20Control/The%20Introduction/06-Saturn%20Blues-Beat%20Under%20Control_spoken.opus", "free_download" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/6/file?format=mp3", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/beatunder-intro/tracks/6" }], "previews_note" : "preview_mp3 (and an album's preview_opus and free_download) is the free version: the whole song with a short spoken Magnatune voice every 30 seconds, for use only under CC BY-NC-SA 1.0 (non-commercial, credit, share alike).
