After finishing his composition studies at Berklee College of Music in 2001, Ernesto moved back to his native Panama where he released his first solo album, Wood. He then went on to work with various rock and jazz bands, including Hacienda Libre, Natha, Calle Mood and Los Intelectuales.\n\nWith Hacienda Libre he won third place in Panamarock's first competition for new bands and formed part of the resulting compilation CD. In 2006 he was part of the Panama Jazz Festival with Los Intelectuales, followed by the first Boquete Jazz Festival a year later. Eventually, Ernesto decided to focus on his own music again. In 2008 he relocated to Berlin and took the opportunity to start from scratch. This meant sitting alone with his guitar and exploring various influences, finding his own unique voice along the way.\n\nThe result is A Work in Progress, released in early 2011. In Ernesto's own words, it's \"a musical template of things to come.\"", "photo" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/img/ernesto_schnack.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/ernesto_schnack/", "albums" : [{ "sku" : "eschnack-wood", "name" : "Wood", "artist" : { "name" : "Ernesto Schnack", "page" : "ernesto_schnack" }, "release_date" : "2011-08-07", "genres" : ["Alt Rock","Folk-Rock","Instrumental Rock"], "vocals" : "instrumental", "moods" : ["quirky","playful","dreamy","reflective","melancholic","hypnotic"], "uses" : ["vlog","podcast background","documentary","travel","emotional storytelling","study or focus"], "energy" : 3, "instrumentation" : ["acoustic guitar","electric guitar","loops","samples","effects"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "A unique acoustic fingerstyle album using loops and effects to create full arrangements; great for creative, thoughtful, or atmospheric video and podcast projects.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Ernesto%20Schnack/Wood/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/eschnack-wood/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/eschnack-wood", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=eschnack-wood" },{ "sku" : "eschnack-wip", "name" : "A Work in Progress", "artist" : { "name" : "Ernesto Schnack", "page" : "ernesto_schnack" }, "release_date" : "2011-05-25", "genres" : ["Alt Rock","Instrumental New Age","Instrumental Rock"], "vocals" : "instrumental", "moods" : ["melancholic","reflective"], "uses" : ["emotional storytelling","podcast background","documentary","slideshow or memories","study or focus","cafe or restaurant"], "energy" : 3, "instrumentation" : ["acoustic guitar","fingerstyle guitar","ethnic rhythms","rock instrumentation"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "A moody, bittersweet blend of fingerstyle acoustic guitar, rock, classical, and ethnic rhythms—ideal for emotional storytelling, documentaries, and reflective podcast backgrounds.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Ernesto%20Schnack/A%20Work%20in%20Progress/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/eschnack-wip/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/eschnack-wip", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=eschnack-wip" }] }, "license" : { "music_license" : "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 1.0 (CC BY-NC-SA 1.0)", "music_license_url" : "https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/1.0/", "listening" : "Stream the free previews, or buy an album for $8 to download it in MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, OGG or WAV. 100% of the price goes to the musician.", "non_commercial" : "Non-commercial projects may use the music under CC BY-NC-SA 1.0: credit the artist and Magnatune, and share alike.", "projects" : "Magnatune members may use any Magnatune music in their projects, commercial or not (videos, films, podcasts, games, apps, websites, adverts), including work for clients, under the Magnatune Project Licence.
