Born and raised in an industrial area - in a small city best known for its chemical factories macabro always tended to stick to Nature, in a way trying to escape from the reality. The music reflects all of this, drawing pictures of mechanised plants and flowers in listeners' minds, submerging them into the realm of artificial electrical winds.\n\nWhile this kind of music is, of course, strictly underground, macabro has managed to find his audience in Latvia and neighbouring countries; he has also played several livesets in Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus, under the wing of latvian \"elektronik noiz movement\" STURM, which has been one of the most active subculture music movements in Latvia in the last 10 years.\n\nIt all began with the ordinary singing-songwriting, but the interest in electronic music soon took over. At first starting with harsher noisy sounds, the music became calmer and warmer as the time went on.\n\nmacabro experiments with field recordings and guitar sounds, whilst adding lots of synthesized drones and other samples, arranging it all into sophisticated sounding tracks with rather complex structure. Some of the newer works might even be considered as guitar ambient, although guitar sound is fairly modified, sometimes to an unrecognizable degree.\n\nThe latest album Envelopes draws influences from both (neo-)classical music and modern electronic glitch-sound material.", "photo" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/img/macabro_2.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/macabro/", "albums" : [{ "sku" : "macabro-welivelies", "name" : "We Live Lies", "artist" : { "name" : "macabro", "page" : "macabro" }, "release_date" : "2014-02-16", "genres" : ["Electronica","Experimental","Downtempo"], "vocals" : "vocals", "moods" : ["dreamy","meditative","mysterious","reflective","ethereal","melancholic"], "uses" : ["podcast background","film score","sci-fi or space","meditation or yoga","emotional storytelling","travel"], "energy" : 3, "instrumentation" : ["synths","drum machine","spoken samplings","atmospheric noises","bass-driven passages"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "Rhythmic downtempo electronic music blending psy-ambient, IDM, and glitch with spoken samples; ideal for cinematic, reflective, or sci-fi contexts and deep listening.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/macabro/We%20Live%20Lies/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/macabro-welivelies/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/macabro-welivelies", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=macabro-welivelies" },{ "sku" : "macabro-envelopes", "name" : "Envelopes", "artist" : { "name" : "macabro", "page" : "macabro" }, "release_date" : "2011-06-11", "genres" : ["Electronica","Experimental"], "vocals" : "vocals", "moods" : ["dreamy","ethereal","melancholic","reflective","calm","mysterious"], "uses" : ["nature documentary","meditation or yoga","podcast background","emotional storytelling","spa or massage","study or focus"], "energy" : 2, "instrumentation" : ["piano","synths","guitar","field recordings","deep bass rhythms","abstract melodies"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "A dreamy, melancholic ambient album with piano, synths, guitar, and field recordings of rain and wind—ideal for nature docs, meditation, or emotional storytelling.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/macabro/Envelopes/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/macabro-envelopes/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/macabro-envelopes", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=macabro-envelopes" }] }, "license" : { "music_license" : "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 1.0 (CC BY-NC-SA 1.0)", "music_license_url" : "https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/1.0/", "listening" : "Stream the free previews, or buy an album for $8 to download it in MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, OGG or WAV. 100% of the price goes to the musician.", "non_commercial" : "Non-commercial projects may use the music under CC BY-NC-SA 1.0: credit the artist and Magnatune, and share alike.", "projects" : "Magnatune members may use any Magnatune music in their projects, commercial or not (videos, films, podcasts, games, apps, websites, adverts), including work for clients, under the Magnatune Project Licence.
