From Ethnic Fusion to Epic Rock, Cinematic and beyond", "location" : "Tokyo, Japan", "bio" : "Ryo Utasato is a Japanese composer and singer/songwriter with a rich body of work that runs the gamut from electronica to ambient to world to rock and beyond.\n\nBeing raised by parents who were both musicians themselves, Ryo has had no shortage of inspiration and has been creating music from a very young age. Her range of talent and unique experimental style is immediately striking and listening to one of her pieces will undoubtedly transport you to another place. Her soundtracks have appeared in a variety of film and TV, and she's worked in such genres as sci-fi, drama, horror and action. Her work was also chosen for the theme of World Heritage series.\n\nRyo's incredible musical sense combined with her genuine interest in world culture has opened her mind and pushed her to experiment with different types of sounds and instruments. Her music often features a mixture of seemingly contrasting sounds which collide at different points and produce unexpectedly moving results. On top of some of the more conventional instruments which Ryo has used in her music, she has also experimented with a number of others from different parts of the world such as the duduk (Armenia), the erhu (China) and the shamisen (Japan). The expanse and tremendous scale of her music is capable of taking us from one part of the globe to another, just by closing our eyes.", "photo" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/img/ryo_utasato.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/ryo_utasato/", "albums" : [{ "sku" : "ryoutasato-eternalflame", "name" : "Eternal Flame", "artist" : { "name" : "Ryo Utasato", "page" : "ryo_utasato" }, "release_date" : "2022-10-14", "genres" : ["World","Electronica"], "vocals" : "vocals", "moods" : ["ethereal","dreamy","reflective","mysterious","spiritual","peaceful"], "uses" : ["nature documentary","meditation or yoga","spa or massage","emotional storytelling","podcast background","sci-fi or space"], "energy" : 3, "instrumentation" : ["synths","ethnic instruments","female vocals","ambient textures","oriental melodic elements"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "A world-electronic ambient album with ethereal, oriental-tinged melodies and female vocals, ideal for nature documentaries, meditation, and sci-fi or emotional storytelling.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Ryo%20Utasato/Eternal%20Flame/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/ryoutasato-eternalflame/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/ryoutasato-eternalflame", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=ryoutasato-eternalflame" },{ "sku" : "ryoutasato-longsnowsmoon", "name" : "Long Snows Moon", "artist" : { "name" : "Ryo Utasato", "page" : "ryo_utasato" }, "release_date" : "2013-04-04", "genres" : ["World","Electronica"], "vocals" : "vocals", "moods" : ["ethereal","dreamy","mysterious","uplifting","meditative","spiritual"], "uses" : ["sci-fi or space","nature documentary","meditation or yoga","podcast background","emotional storytelling","trailer"], "energy" : 3, "instrumentation" : ["synths","ethnic percussion","female vocals","ambient textures","electronic rhythms"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "An ethereal, world-infused ambient-electronica album with uplifting, organic experimental sounds and female vocals—ideal for sci-fi, nature docs, meditation, and emotional storytelling.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Ryo%20Utasato/Long%20Snows%20Moon/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/ryoutasato-longsnowsmoon/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/ryoutasato-longsnowsmoon", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=ryoutasato-longsnowsmoon" },{ "sku" : "ryoutasato-forkingdom", "name" : "Forgotten Kingdom", "artist" : { "name" : "Ryo Utasato", "page" : "ryo_utasato" }, "release_date" : "2013-02-05", "genres" : ["World","Electronica"], "vocals" : "vocals", "moods" : ["dreamy","ethereal","mysterious","uplifting","meditative"], "uses" : ["sci-fi or space","film score","meditation or yoga","podcast background","emotional storytelling","travel"], "energy" : 3, "instrumentation" : ["synths","glitch effects","female vocals","ethnic percussion","ambient textures"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "An ambient glitch album blending ethnic fusion and electronica with uplifting, organic experimental sounds—ideal for sci-fi, film scores, and meditative or emotional storytelling.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Ryo%20Utasato/Forgotten%20Kingdom/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/ryoutasato-forkingdom/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/ryoutasato-forkingdom", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=ryoutasato-forkingdom" }] }, "license" : { "music_license" : "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 1.0 (CC BY-NC-SA 1.0)", "music_license_url" : "https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/1.0/", "listening" : "Stream the free previews, or buy an album for $8 to download it in MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, OGG or WAV. 100% of the price goes to the musician.", "non_commercial" : "Non-commercial projects may use the music under CC BY-NC-SA 1.0: credit the artist and Magnatune, and share alike.", "projects" : "Magnatune members may use any Magnatune music in their projects, commercial or not (videos, films, podcasts, games, apps, websites, adverts), including work for clients, under the Magnatune Project Licence.
