In 1997 they followed up with their second 12-track album Vortex cordis, which was recorded and produced in Andy Classen's (ex-Holy Moses) well-established metal and hardcore Stage One-Studio (Germany). Vortex cordis was highly acclaimed throughout the German metal press and provided the band a record deal with Rawk-Records.\n\nIn numerous club-events, concerts and large festivals sHIT for bRAINS raised attention and played along other famous german metal bands like Disbelief, Crematory, Hate Squad und Tankard.\n\nIn 1998 came a temporary disbanding as the members were individually engaged and involved in other musically successful, international projects and bands (Richthofen, Century und Crematory). Eventually, sHIT for bRAINS members coined new mutual metal projects (BrotherCain 1999 - 2000, Crack a Smile 2001 - 2006) and an additional guitarist Jan Fendler teamed up, so the band was ready to announce their official reunion in 2006.\n\nWith their latest album release Broken Vow sHIT for bRAINS offers a completely independent and entirely self produced and designed piece of intense metal music and (art)work.\n\nMichael Rohr - vocals\nMatthias Hechler - guitars, vocals\nJan Fendler - guitars\nGernot Leinert - bass\nSanjai Shah - drums", "photo" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/img/shit_for_brains.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/shit_for_brains/", "albums" : [{ "sku" : "shitforbrains-brokenvownv", "name" : "broken vow (vocals removed)", "artist" : { "name" : "sHIT for bRAINS", "page" : "shit_for_brains" }, "release_date" : "2026-10-23", "genres" : ["Hard Rock","Metal"], "vocals" : "vocals removed", "moods" : ["aggressive","dark","dramatic","energetic","tense"], "uses" : ["trailer","gaming","sports or action","workout or fitness","horror or thriller","film score"], "energy" : 5, "instrumentation" : ["distorted electric guitars","driving drums","aggressive vocals","thrash-metal bass"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "Brutal, down-to-earth thrash metal with progressive influences, ideal for high-intensity video projects like trailers, gaming, and action scenes.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/sHIT%20for%20bRAINS/broken%20vow%20(vocals%20removed)/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/shitforbrains-brokenvownv/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/shitforbrains-brokenvownv", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=shitforbrains-brokenvownv" },{ "sku" : "shitforbrains-brokenvow", "name" : "broken vow", "artist" : { "name" : "sHIT for bRAINS", "page" : "shit_for_brains" }, "release_date" : "2012-03-18", "genres" : ["Hard Rock","Metal"], "vocals" : "vocals", "moods" : ["aggressive","dark","dramatic","energetic","tense"], "uses" : ["trailer","gaming","sports or action","workout or fitness","horror or thriller","film score"], "energy" : 5, "instrumentation" : ["distorted electric guitars","driving drums","aggressive vocals","thrash-metal bass"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "Brutal, down-to-earth thrash metal with progressive influences, ideal for high-intensity video projects like trailers, gaming, and action scenes.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/sHIT%20for%20bRAINS/broken%20vow/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/shitforbrains-brokenvow/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/shitforbrains-brokenvow", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=shitforbrains-brokenvow" }] }, "license" : { "music_license" : "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 1.0 (CC BY-NC-SA 1.0)", "music_license_url" : "https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/1.0/", "listening" : "Stream the free previews, or buy an album for $8 to download it in MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, OGG or WAV. 100% of the price goes to the musician.", "non_commercial" : "Non-commercial projects may use the music under CC BY-NC-SA 1.0: credit the artist and Magnatune, and share alike.", "projects" : "Magnatune members may use any Magnatune music in their projects, commercial or not (videos, films, podcasts, games, apps, websites, adverts), including work for clients, under the Magnatune Project Licence.
