{ "ok" : true, "artist" : { "name" : "Torn Down Units", "page" : "torn_down_units", "description" : "Quality Rock n' Roll since 1996", "location" : "Ontario, Canada", "bio" : "Torn Down Units (hereafter referred to as TDU) has been rocking Canada since the late 1990s. The band was formed by Orangeville-based singer/guitarist Ian \"Ian Unit\" Coburn who enlisted the help of old friends Chris Mullen (bass) and Dean Morrison (drums) to generate a unique rock n' roll sound he hadn't been hearing enough of.\n\nThe four turned TDU's sound into something comparable with nothing else out there. The Units have played all over southern Ontario, including stops in Toronto, Hamilton, London, Guelph, Ottawa, Brampton and Orangeville, and have ventured out of Province to rock Montreal. It was also the only musical outfit brave enough to entertain the people of Walkerton, Ontario only one day after news of the now infamous Ecoli water scandal broke.\n\nThe Units played regularly in Toronto at great musical institutions like the El Macambo, the 360, Sneaky Dee's, The Horseshoe Tavern and The Silver Dollar Room, and other up-and-coming venues like The B-Side and Rancho Relaxo.\n\nThey have played along side bands like Zen Guerilla, Tricky Woo, Cheerleader, Sticky Rice, Teenage Head, Supagroup and hundreds of others. Many happy music lovers have left TDU shows somehow reminded of The Supersuckers, The Stooges, Nashville Pussy and early Rolling Stones; all killer bands, so the comparisons don't bother the Units at all.\n\nTDU's mandate is to keep the fires of rock n' roll burning hotter than ever in an age where the only music getting attention (be it positive or negative) is conceived in a board room, not a jam space, and is void of any wit, charm or substance. Faced with this grim reality,\n\nTDU offers an alternative, designed for people who still believe in the power of rock n' roll.", "photo" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/img/torn_down_units.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/torn_down_units/", "albums" : [{ "sku" : "torndownunits-qualitryrock", "name" : "A Collection of Quality Rock and Roll", "artist" : { "name" : "Torn Down Units", "page" : "torn_down_units" }, "release_date" : "2013-10-16", "genres" : ["Hard Rock","Rock"], "vocals" : "vocals", "moods" : ["energetic","aggressive","driving","playful","uplifting"], "uses" : ["sports or action","workout or fitness","gaming","trailer","skate or extreme sports","advertising"], "energy" : 5, "instrumentation" : ["electric guitar","drums","bass guitar","male vocals"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "High-energy rock and roll with punk, surf, and rockabilly influences; ideal for action-packed videos, trailers, workouts, and energetic advertising.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Torn%20Down%20Units/A%20Collection%20of%20Quality%20Rock%20and%20Roll/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/torndownunits-qualitryrock/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/torndownunits-qualitryrock", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=torndownunits-qualitryrock" },{ "sku" : "torndownunits-instrumental", "name" : "The Instrumental Collection", "artist" : { "name" : "Torn Down Units", "page" : "torn_down_units" }, "release_date" : "2013-06-23", "genres" : ["Alt Rock","Hard Rock"], "vocals" : "instrumental", "moods" : ["energetic","aggressive","driving","gritty","playful","nostalgic"], "uses" : ["sports or action","gaming","trailer","podcast intro or outro","advertising","skate or extreme sports"], "energy" : 5, "instrumentation" : ["electric guitar","drums","bass","surf-style guitar riffs"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "A high-energy, grungy instrumental rock album blending punk, surf, and rockabilly—ideal for action-packed videos, trailers, and energetic podcast intros.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Torn%20Down%20Units/The%20Instrumental%20Collection/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/torndownunits-instrumental/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/torndownunits-instrumental", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=torndownunits-instrumental" }] }, "license" : { "music_license" : "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 1.0 (CC BY-NC-SA 1.0)", "music_license_url" : "https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/1.0/", "listening" : "Stream the free previews, or buy an album for $8 to download it in MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, OGG or WAV. 100% of the price goes to the musician.", "non_commercial" : "Non-commercial projects may use the music under CC BY-NC-SA 1.0: credit the artist and Magnatune, and share alike.", "projects" : "Magnatune members may use any Magnatune music in their projects, commercial or not (videos, films, podcasts, games, apps, websites, adverts), including work for clients, under the Magnatune Project Licence.
