In real life, he is a French programmer called Gabriel Hautclocq, whose music is easily recognizable in the electro scene: dark, atmospheric, melancolic and cyber-punk tracks ranging from zero-beat ambient to hardtek, with chiptune, classical and drum & bass tracks adding even more flavor to the palette.\n\nIn the early days, Gabriel's music was kept to his inner circle; titled \"GabMix\" followed by the year of release, the fist series of albums was distributed to family and friends only. So far, three albums and one single have been released this way: GabMix 2000, GabMix 2001, GabMix 2003, and the single \"Funky\".\n\nConscious that the name \"GabMix\" didn't look very professional, Gabriel chose to henceforth call himself Windpearl. The first album distributed under that name, \"Echoes of Nothingness\", was first made available to friends and family only to then be released on Soundcloud.\n\nThe next two albums have been released to the public through various platforms on the web. The first one, \"I love you a bit…\", was produced in France and released in 2007, whereas the second one, \"Mother Earth\", was created in Asia (China and Thailand) and released in late 2008.\n\nWindpearl moved back to France in 2012 together with his spouse. He has released an EP with a few more tracks since, but hasn't yet been able to fill a full album. His most recent EP can be found on various music streaming platforms.", "photo" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/img/windpearl.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/windpearl/", "albums" : [{ "sku" : "windpearl-happproject", "name" : "H A P P Project", "artist" : { "name" : "Windpearl", "page" : "windpearl" }, "release_date" : "2022-01-07", "genres" : ["Electronica","Darkwave","Instrumental Electronica"], "vocals" : "instrumental", "moods" : ["mysterious","dramatic","epic","ominous","hypnotic","reflective"], "uses" : ["nature documentary","sci-fi or space","documentary","trailer","period drama or history","emotional storytelling"], "energy" : 4, "instrumentation" : ["synths","drum machine","chiptune sounds","atmospheric electronics","vocals"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "Eclectic, atmospheric hard electronica with chiptune and drum & bass elements, evoking Earth's geological eons—ideal for sci-fi, nature docs, and dramatic storytelling.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Windpearl/H%20A%20P%20P%20Project/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/windpearl-happproject/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/windpearl-happproject", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=windpearl-happproject" },{ "sku" : "windpearl-motherearth", "name" : "Mother Earth", "artist" : { "name" : "Windpearl", "page" : "windpearl" }, "release_date" : "2018-11-27", "genres" : ["Electronica","Darkwave","Instrumental Electronica"], "vocals" : "vocals", "moods" : ["dark","melancholic","reflective","ominous","dramatic","spiritual"], "uses" : ["documentary","nature documentary","emotional storytelling","film score","podcast background","trailer"], "energy" : 4, "instrumentation" : ["synths","drum machine","church organ","chiptune sounds","electronic percussion"], "sounds_like" : [], "summary" : "Atmospheric, dark electronic music with chiptune and pipe organ elements, ideal for evocative documentaries or emotional storytelling about environmental themes.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Windpearl/Mother%20Earth/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/windpearl-motherearth/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/windpearl-motherearth", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=windpearl-motherearth" },{ "sku" : "windpearl-iloveyouabit", "name" : "I love you a bit", "artist" : { "name" : "Windpearl", "page" : "windpearl" }, "release_date" : "2018-08-10", "genres" : ["Electronica","Darkwave","Instrumental Electronica"], "vocals" : "instrumental", "moods" : ["melancholic","nostalgic","tense","dreamy","mysterious","reflective"], "uses" : ["gaming","sci-fi or space","trailer","documentary","podcast background","emotional storytelling"], "energy" : 4, "instrumentation" : ["synths","drum machine","chiptune sounds","electronic bass","atmospheric pads"], "sounds_like" : ["Binaerpilot"], "summary" : "Eclectic, atmospheric hard electronica with chiptune and drum & bass elements, blending dark ambient, 8-bit melodies, and electronic funk—ideal for sci-fi, gaming, or emotionally charged storytelling.", "cover" : "https://magnatune.com/music/Windpearl/I%20love%20you%20a%20bit/cover_400.jpg", "web_url" : "https://magnatune.com/artists/albums/windpearl-iloveyouabit/", "api_url" : "https://magnatune.com/api/albums/windpearl-iloveyouabit", "buy_url" : "https://magnatune.com/buy/album?sku=windpearl-iloveyouabit" }] }, "license" : { "music_license" : "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 1.0 (CC BY-NC-SA 1.0)", "music_license_url" : "https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/1.0/", "listening" : "Stream the free previews, or buy an album for $8 to download it in MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, OGG or WAV. 100% of the price goes to the musician.", "non_commercial" : "Non-commercial projects may use the music under CC BY-NC-SA 1.0: credit the artist and Magnatune, and share alike.", "projects" : "Magnatune members may use any Magnatune music in their projects, commercial or not (videos, films, podcasts, games, apps, websites, adverts), including work for clients, under the Magnatune Project Licence.
