Michael Travisano: Modern alternative piano to feel in your gut.

Pianist and composer Michael Travisano has one foot firmly planted in the tradition of classical piano while the other foot keeps time with American rock, blues, metal, bluegrass, and pop. Influenced by the great masters Beethoven and Chopin, Pearl Jam and Led Zeppelin, Mike's musical upbringing reflects this same marriage of styles.

Abandoning piano lessons as a kid for louder pursuits as a self-taught electric guitarist, Mike rediscovered the beauty, energy, and power of classical music in his early twenties. He was accepted as a student of RCA Records artist Julia Benfer and had the great fortune of studying with her until her passing in 2009 at the age of 99.

Continuing to practice and perform classical works in the central Pennsylvania area, Mike began to write music of his own that would eventually become the album, White Whale. Drawing from his own personal experiences and following simple musical forms, the pieces reflect the deep emotions shared by all : anger, loss, and longing, as well as hope, gratitude, and love.

Mike currently lives, composes, and performs in Rome, Italy and you can find out more about him on his website.
