Alan Marchand : Blues for all Occasions.
Toe teasin' jazz tunes for all occasions.
"Blues For All Occasions" features 19 tracks of original jazz compositions that
feature variations of the classic 12-bar blues progression. Let us take you back
to the 1960s, when jazz and bebop were king.
Check out "Punxsutawney Phil" as Pennsylvania's famous groundhog emerges from
his den each February 2nd while dancing to an up-tempo blues number. "Mister
Mojo" features a wailing baritone sax that winds effortlessly between major and
minor modes. Then there's "Mister Right Now", a slow blues arrangement designed
to entertain you while you wait patiently for Mister Right to come along. On an
upbeat day you might be in the mood for "Mulliganesque", our bari sax player's
homage to Gerry Mulligan. But when you're feeling down and out, "Apesadumbrado",
our slow, woe-is-me blues performed in a minor key might prove to be just the
kind of company that misery is said to love.
