With its delicate dub influences, Kolin Fraser's thoughtful electronic music makes the perfect cushion for Nicky Cairney's girlishly appealing voice. The overall tone of Reconnection is dreamy and euphoric, but there's an element of the strange and shadowy in this album that keeps it from being too wide-eyed. "Rapture" is a stunning track—a perfectly paced seduction with a subtle, mysterious melody—while "Broken" pays tribute to the group's Portishead influences. Other standout tracks include "Calm" and "Heaven."
