Telemann Trios on Guitar by Daniel Estrem Daniel Estrem : Telemann Trios on Guitar.
Colorful classical guitar.

German Baroque composer, Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) was one of the most prolific composers of his time with a body of work comprised of more than 3,000 pieces. He lived a relatively long life extending into the early Classical Period, and despite declining health in his later years, he continued to compose music of the highest quality until the evening of his death.

Telemann's music was one of the driving forces behind the late Baroque and early Classical styles. His music gradually changed over the years incorporating more and more elements of the galant style, however he never completely adopted the ideals of the early Classical Period. Telemann's style remained contrapuntally and harmonically intricate, and already in 1751 he dismissed much contemporary music as too simplistic. One can hear examples on this recording where the piece begins sounding almost Haydn-like and then gradually becomes more densely polyphonic and complex.

Transcriptions for guitar by Anton Hoeger (Germany).
