Fortune's Wheel : Pastourelle.
A spirited rediscovery of the riches of medieval musical traditions.
I met long-time Magnatune musician Tim Rayborn's new musical partner Annette Bauer a few months ago at a Berkeley restaurant. Tim has always been a multi-instrumentalist, straddling the worlds of early classical music and eastern music. Annette is very much the same, as she is a recorder player who also plays the Indian sarod. Tim and Annette cover
medieval repertoire with their new group Canconier. Annette explores Indian music with her group Magic Carpet. Another long-time collaborator with Tim Rayborn is Shira Kammen, who shows up in this set of new releases with another of her groups, the medieval ensemble "Fortune's Wheel".
