the glimmer room : now we are six.
Ambient music infused with the atmosphere of the long lost mists of 1900's rural england.
Following on from 2004's Grey Mirrors, this new release
looks to all the lost jewels, the one off tracks composed with a
purpose in mind, throughout The Glimmer Room's first 6 years.
The Glimmer Room's Andy picks up the story and the idea came about like most
good ideas, sat round a table in a pub with a group of close friends. At one
point in the evening he was asked, "what happened to all the tracks that never
made it onto your albums?" he explained that a fair few had been used on magazine
cover disks and compilations, but it started him thinking about all those pieces
of music, six years worth of tracks spread all over the globe. What chance did
people have of hearing all of them? With this thought still fresh in his mind,
the next day he started to find all the old masters. Over the next few weeks he
worked on mastering them and finding a running order that ran like an album and
not just a collection of pieces.
While he was working on this he started to get the feeling that he was
bringing them all back home, safe under one roof. Now We Are Six contains a vast
mixture of rare studio, live and re-mixed tracks, giving the listener a chance
to hear some of The Glimmer Room's most obscured from view, but totally inspired
and atmospheric moments to date, in one sitting.
